My Philosophy about Therapy

I see our lives as journeys we are taking in our own cars. From time to time, our cars encounter external treacherous road conditions such as conflicts in our careers or relationships. Sometimes, there is internal mechanical trouble such as medical problems, depression or anxiety.

As a therapist and a passenger, I am a guide on your journey. I help you navigate the road being travelled towards the goals you have envisioned for yourself. You will still have control of your steering wheel, accelerator and brakes!

We assess and decide if :

·       internal work needs to be done like developing coping skills and positive thinking and communication styles that lead to new beliefs and behaviors and challenge all that is interfering with how your car runs.

·       we need to explore different roads that you can take that will support a better quality of life and daily functioning

·       there are other passengers in the car such as friends, family members and professional colleagues who  may be helpful or a hindrance and just need to be let out!.

How fast you reach your destination depends on how fast you are willing and able to move your car. You may find that you know how to get to your destination and decide to let me out of the car and finish the journey with your own social supports.

Your destination is a lifestyle where you are able to manage your daily life with minimal to no interference from depression, anxiety, addictions, eating disorders and/or relationship conflicts.
